A person reads it — one of the professional dealers who built the app,
with decades of selling fine, vintage and estate jewelry between them. Say what piece you were
working on and what the app did, and include the listing if you still have
it.
Things that come up
A read came back wrong. It will sometimes. The app forms
an opinion from one photograph and the readings you took, and it says so on
screen every time it offers one. Correct anything you know to be wrong before
you publish — the listing is yours and it goes up under your name. If a
read is badly wrong, send it and the photograph; that is how the app gets
better.
It will not tell me what my piece is worth. That is
deliberate and it is not a setting. Where a number appears it is a range, for
your consideration, drawn from what other pieces like it have sold for and
what they are asking now, out of professional dealers' own records. It is a
comparison, not an appraisal.
Why does it not post to eBay for me? Partly because no
app can fill in another app's form without that marketplace's own permission,
and that is coming. But mostly because on anything worth money you should not
want it to. A $599.95 brooch posted automatically at $59.95 sells in minutes,
and then you are canceling a sale you have to honor or eat. eBay and Etsy
will accept your apology; you still get the defect. Three defects in a year and
eBay takes your Top Rated Seller status, and with it the fee
discount, the search priority and the badge — across your whole store, not
just the listing you got wrong. Reputation is everything, and it is not worth
trading away to gain a few seconds. Measure twice, cut once is the best advice
there is for becoming a top ranked seller.
I have run out of listings this month. Your plan resets on
the first and does not carry over. You can buy more at any time, and bought
listings do not expire.
Managing or canceling a subscription. That is done in
your Apple account, not in the app: Settings, tap your name, then
Subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period
running.
Restoring a purchase on a new phone. There is no account to
sign into. Open the app, go to the plan screen and choose Restore.
Where my photographs go. A photograph you take is sent to
Anthropic's model API to be read, and the answer comes back. The app keeps
your photographs on your phone. Nothing is published, sold, or sent anywhere
else. See the privacy policy.
What this app will never do
Tell you what your piece is worth. Call unmarked metal sterling, silver or
gold. Name a protected brand from a look rather than a mark. Write the word
rare. Those are rules, not preferences, and they are there to protect your
selling account.
